What's Old is New Again

So the Florida Marlins have hired 80 yr old Jack McKeon to manage for the rest of the season after the sudden "resignation" of Edwin Rodriguez on Sunday morning.  McKeon was the manager for their 2003 World Series (with Bartman's help they beat my Cubbies for the NL Pennant).  This makes Jack one of the oldest managers ever in baseball.  And so far the Marlins are 1-1.  But just how long can his tough old school love motivate these over paid players?  I never believed in changing managers in the middle of the season because when you get down to it the players still have to make the pitches, hit the balls, and make the plays to when the game.  I hope that Jack does well and makes the players respect the game and all of those who played before them.

So here's to Jack who just won't go into that damn retirement and collect his AARP in peace.

Life of a Cubs Fan

Tonight was suppose to be the night Jeter got his 3000 hit. But with him on the DL, ESPN still had no choice but to put my Cubbies on Sunday night in Primetime. I hope they don't disappoint me and have a horrible showing...but as a Cubs fan, I prepared for the worst and praying for the best...Go Cubbies Go

As I sit here and watch Rory McIlory walk the 18th hole on the his way to winning his 1st major in historical fashion, I wonder if he is going to thank Tiger during his speech. Golf was a sport for the rich that had little to no fan fair before Tiger and now thanks to him the prize money is huge and golf can actually lead on Sportcenter. Let me be clear, I'm a huge Tiger fan and I can't watch for him to return but I also like golf. I just wonder if all of this winners understand that Tiger is the reason they make millions, get sponsorship deals, and just are regulated to the 5 page in the sports section of the paper. Golfers owe Tiger a lot...

Congrats Rory, enjoy every minute of it because this could be the beginning of a wonderful future for you...Just remember that without Tiger (the man you called out last year during the Ryder Cup because he wasn't the Tiger of old but he was still good enough to beat you in Singles) today would mean nothing...

P.S. Good comeback from that horrible Masters collapse
